West Kings 5 – Park View 3

In a Saturday night tilt at the LCLC in Bridgewater, the West Kings Wolverines faced off against the PVEC Panthers. The game itself had a relatively tentative start as teams tried to establish a presence on the ice by moving the puck, looking to create scoring chances.

The Wolverines were first on the board as Kendall McDow found the back of the net with the assist going Cayden Peters. The Panthers were quick to reply as on the same shift, as Chase Crouse fired a shot from the point that was tipped by Nathan Lambourne. Aiden Estey made a nice save on the play, leaving a rebound that was buried by Sam Tanner. Tied at one after one, it was the West Kings stealing the second, with goals coming off the sticks of Evan Beresford, Shaun Campbell, and Keelan Buckler, giving them all the momentum and a three-goal lead heading into the third.

The Wolverines came out hard and struck again within the first minute, as Cayden Peters hooked up with Hunter Lalonde. The Panthers staged a late game rally with goals coming off the sticks of Carlos White and Sam Tanner, however they were unable to come all the way back and the Wolverines held on for the 5-3 win and a big two points on the road.

Digby 5 – Middleton 3

The Middleton Monarchs hosted the Digby Mariners for their first match-up of the year. In an exciting first period, Digby managed to take the lead with a short-handed goal unassisted by Kaiden Longmire at 6:09. This would be the only goal in the first period.

The Mariners used the momentum to net four unanswered goals in the second. Colby Haight from Longmire. Brett Hall from Longmire. Then with 59 seconds left Avery Gunn from Cameron Titus on a powerplay, making it 4-0 for the Mariners. As the seconds wound down Longmire decided to add another point and banged one home from Austin Walker with just 1 second left on the clock.

The Monarchs came back in the third with fire. Aidan Gallant, playing D for a missing teammate, opened the scoring for the Monarchs, assisted by Logan Duncan. Shortly afterwards Haden denHaan lit the lamp again, assisted by Connor Armstrong. With time winding down Haden denHaan tallied his second point of the night with assists from Madex denHaan and Aidan Gallant.

Try as they might the Monarchs could not score again and lost the game 5-3.

Both Keaton Long and Eric Dickie were fantastic between the pipes.
