During the season, we include game recaps on our VHSHL website.
The recaps are sent in by the home teams and are posted based on when they are received and coupled with the availability of the webmaster, throughout the weekend and the first part of the week.

CENTRAL KINGS 14 – CLARE 3
The Central Kings Gators visited the Université Sainte-Anne arena in Church Point on Friday evening, Oct. 28, and wasted little time spoiling les Loups' home opener.
The Gators took a 5-0 lead after 1 period of play including 2 PP and 1 SH goals. Wyatt Logie hit the twine twice while Matt Churchill, Kaleb Boates and Ryan Turner added singles.
The second period saw the Gators outscore Clare 6-2, as Cody Hebb with 3 goals, Ryan Turner with his 2nd goal, and Austin Mackay and Connor White added to the Gators’ tally. Chad Redick replied with 2 goals for Clare in the middle period.
The final period saw CK outscore Clare 3-1 with Nathan Langille adding a goal as well as Ryan Turner with his 3rd goal and Austin Mackay with his 2nd goal of the game for the Gators. Ryan Trimper replied with Clare's 3rd goal.
Shawn Crocker got the win in net for the Gators while Mathieu LeBlanc gave up 9 goals and Cohen Neil 5 goals against in the loss for Clare.

PAR-EN-BAS 5 – CENTRAL KINGS 4
The PEB and Central Kings fans were excited to get this Oct. 29 game underway with play going back and forth for the first five minutes of the game. At the 15:31 minute of the first period, Wyatt Logie sent Aiden Meister in on a breakaway with a long stretch pass, with Meister shooting a low forehand shot to put CK up by one. PEB responded immediately with a hard shot from the point from Nolan Saulnier to even the score at one.
Sam Butler put CK up again with a hard shot from the top of the circle (assisted by Meister, Nauss). Cody Hebb scored on the power play late in the first period with a high shot from just outside the blue paint to put CK up by two at the end of the first period.
Midway through the second period, PEB scored on a power play with a nice hard low shot from Dominic Jacquard from the point, with Carson d’Eon burying the rebound to make the score 3-2 for CK.
PEB continued to carry the play in the second period, breaking out of the CK end with a 2-on-1 with Caleb D’Entremont slipping a gorgeous feed over to Blake Newell to even the game at three. Late in the second period, Blake Newell (from Caleb d’Entremont) scored on a hard low shot to put PEB up 4-3 at the end of period two.
CK scored at the 7:25 mark of the third period, with a nice feed from Connor White from behind the goal line to Brody Nauss evening the score at 4-4. Play continued back and forth in a very competitive spirited game with PEB pinning CK in their end in the final minute. CK was unable to clear the zone with PEB scoring at the 0:20 second mark by Blake Newell (from Cottreau, d’Eon) for his hat-trick of the game. CK made the final 20 seconds very interesting with several chances, but PEB held on for a 5-4 victory.
Central Kings had 43 shots on goal in the game and PEB had 24.
HORTON 8 – BARRINGTON 1
The Horton Griffins held their home opener at the Kentville rink by hosting the Barrington Barons on Oct. 29.
The first period was a back-and-forth match between the two teams with the Griffins feeling the opening night jitters. Both teams had some good chances with the Griff’s scoring early in the first period at 14:55. Horton took 4 penalties over the first period compared to 2 by the Barons.
As the second period got under way, the Griffins settled in and were able to net 3 more goals with Barrington getting onto the scoreboard as well. Into the third set the home team continued the scoring streak by putting four more behind the Barron’s goaltender who had made some very good saves throughout the game.
With 6:45 left in the match there was a dust up between number 11 Makai Mahaney of the Horton team and number 11 Dakota Ryder of Barons that saw the two players hitting the showers before the end of the game.
The final score was 8-1 for the home team Horton Griffins.
PAR-EN-BAS 5 – PARK VIEW 4
On the eve of Halloween, the juggernaut Park View Panthers came to the Mariners Centre to play the École Secondaire de Par-en-Bas Sharks.
These two teams met last weekend at the West Kings tournament with Parkview winning 5-1. The Sharks were hungry for revenge and did not want to spoil their Oct. 30 home opener in front of a large crowd.
The first period saw each team exchange chances. Both Charlie Whitty and Miguel Surette played amazing games in their nets. The first period ended in an even draw.
The second period was where most of the game’s action took place. Par-en-Bas started the scoring with a goal from their captain Carson d’Eon. Less than a minute later Connor Pothier notched his first high school hockey goal to put the Sharks up by two. The Panthers’ stacked offence got to work and Brennan Colemen scored a goal on the next shift after Pothier’s goal.
It would not be a game in Yarmouth without head contact penalties and the Panthers powerplay made the Sharks pay for their infractions with a goal by Lucas Sutherland.
Par-en-Bas’s Alyre Richardson notched his first of the season with 8 minutes left in the game. His 96-year-old great grandmother was in the stands to cheer him on.
It was 3-2 for the Sharks to start the 3rd period. The Sharks scored 2 minutes into the frame with a goal by Lucas Cottreau. Park View, not letting up, scored another powerplay goal. Scoring for the Panthers was Jack Barry. The Sharks’ Riley Hubbard notched a goal to put the Sharks up 5-3. On another powerplay, Park View made it a one-goal differential again, with a goal by Ty Feener. In the dying minutes of the game Park View pulled its goalie. The play was in the Par-en-Bas end for the final two minutes and Park View threw everything at the net. Miguel Surette of the Sharks stood on his head closing the door and getting the big 3 points for the Sharks.
It was a very exciting game for the fans and both teams look forward for the rematch at future tournaments.
PARK VIEW 7 – NKEC 0
The Park View Panthers opened league play at home on Saturday, Oct. 29 in front of a big crowd with a 7-0 win over the visiting NKEC Titans by taking the lead early and never looking back.
First period goals were scored by Joey Ritcey with the assist going to Cohen Westlake, Brennan Coleman assisted by Cohen Westlake, Lucas Sutherland assisted by Chase Crouse, and Brennan Coleman assisted by Cohen Westlake.
Penalties were the story of the second for Park View, however a strong PK and solid
goaltending by rookie Landon Pierce kept the Titans off the board. Westlake scored the lone second period goal for the Panthers with the assist going to Fischer Genge.
The Panthers started the third on a nice goal by Rookie Ty Feener with the assist going to Carlos White. Cohen Westlake rounded out the scoring picking up his second goal and fifth point of the game with the assist going to Mitchell MacIntosh.
