The recaps are sent in by the home teams and are posted based on when they are received and coupled with the availability of the webmaster.

PARK VIEW 2 – AVON VIEW 1

It was an exceptionally intense hockey game from the very start Saturday evening, Dec. 3, in Windsor as the Park View Panthers and Avon View Avalanche collided in Valley High School Boys Hockey. 

The Panthers were 2-1 winners but the victory was far from easy. The game started with a scare to everyone in the arena as the Avalanche’s Nathan Dill was drilled into the boards 12 seconds after the opening face-off.  After laying on the ice for some time, he was carried off on a stretcher. His condition as of this writing was unclear.  Seconds later, with Avalanche players still thinking about their teammate, Brennan Coleman of the Panthers snuck in on a clear break-away to put the Panthers up 1-0.  This was followed with Wilson Davison of the Avalanche missing a phenomenal chance all alone in front of the Parkview net.  Brennan Coleman who played an exceptional game for the Panthers was robbed of a 2nd goal in the latter stages of the opening period by Avalanche net minder Kenneth Fisher.

The second period began with superlative stick handling by the Avalanche’s Harrison Sprague, only to be denied after he got to the front of the net but could not score. The Panthers and Avalanche were exceptionally strong on the penalty kill and both teams had to be as players from both teams could not find a way to stay out of the penalty box. 

The Avalanche played 2 men down for 1:51 but killed both penalties before Magnus Giswold had a clear break only to be denied.  With 14.11 to play in the second period, Jaidan Wells of the Avalanche let a shot go from 15 feet out, slightly to the left of Park View net minder and the game was tied at 1.  Noah Macumber followed the goals up with another great try, but he just missed going in alone. The Avalanche were not finished but Wilson Davison and Brody Richard could not connect on a great chance with both players showing a lot of hustle and grit. 

The Panthers came storming back and Kenneth Fisher made 3 stops one right after the other to keep the game knotted at 1-1.  Park View then demonstrated their penalty killing abilities as they drew three consecutive minors giving the Avalanche a 2-man advantage for 22 seconds and then 59 seconds.  Jaiden Wells then missed in close again.

The third and final goal of the game was scored late in the second when Brennan Coleman connected for his second of the game with a shot from 10 feet out that somehow eluded Fisher and went right between his legs.  The Panthers tried to go up 3-1 early in the third period but Cohen Westlake missed a golden opportunity when he was all alone in front of the Avalanche net.  The Avalanche kept playing hard and Brody Richard streaking down the left side was denied and then Zack Rowsell was robbed blind directly in front of the Park View net.  The game concluded with the Avalanche having Fisher pulled for an extra attacker but Austin Hood’s penalty with 7 seconds to play forced the face-off deep in the Avalanche end and the final was 2-1 for Park View. 

The 6-3-0 Avalanche will now play two on the road to wrap up their schedule prior to the Christmas break. On Sunday, Dec 4 they travelled to the Credit Union Centre in Kingston for a rematch with the 3-4-0 West Kings Wolverines who they beat a week ago in Windsor 4-0 (Avon View won the Dec. 4 game 5-2.) Avon View will play the Horton High Griffins Saturday, Dec. 10 in an 8 p.m. start at Centennial Arena in Kentville.  Park View who is now 7-1-0 will stay on the road and play West Kings Friday Dec. 9 in Kingston.
