Nov. 11-13 boys league game recaps

Game recaps are sent in by the home teams.

YARMOUTH 4 – NKEC 2

On Friday evening in Canning, the NKEC Titans hosted a very hard working and talented Yarmouth side. The Titans came out fast and were ready to match anything the visiting team was ready to serve.

The game went back and forth for the first 6 minutes until #73, Isaac Tunnicliff, scored top shelf after a Titan turnover.  This would be a theme for the evening, as each time the Titan team felt they were back in the game the Vikings would jump on a turnover and put the puck in the net.  At the end of the period it was 1-0 Yarmouth.

The Vikings goaltender was very strong when needed, stopping a number of great opportunities from the home side. Each team scored 1 goal in the second period, leaving the Yarmouth lead 2-1 at the end of the second.  The Yarmouth goal was scored by #17, Orren Hatfield, and the Titans goal was scored by #14, Ethan Escott.

The third period was again back and forth and the next goal was going to be extremely important for either side.  Both teams were trading opportunities and Yarmouth was able to score and extend their lead to two goals on another Titan turnover.  The Yarmouth goal was scored by #12, Luke MacLeay.  Both teams traded goals before the end of the game and the Vikings won by a score of 4-2.  The 4th Yarmouth goal was scored by #11, Declan Fitzgerald who played extremely hard all night and was deserving of this goal.  The Titan’s 2nd goal was scored by #7, Jonny Petrie.

The Titans would like to wish Yarmouth best of luck during the rest of the season.

In the second period, the Park View Panthers went up 3-0 after a blocked shot led to a 2-on-1 with Westlake and Coleman, with Westlake finishing the scoring chance.  CK scored at the 14:42 mark, off a faceoff in Park View’s end with Chase Balsor slipping a pass back to Brody Nauss with a shot from the point, making it a 3-1 score.  Park View got back in the scoring column at the 2:53 mark with a powerplay goal by Dylan Demone (Morash, Decker) slipping the puck under Albrecht.  Parkview scored again at the 1:48 mark to go up 5-1 with a shot from the point from Chase Crouse (Shipley, Genge).

Park View got the scoring underway in the third period at the 17:44 mark, with Westlake (Sylvester, MacIntosh) with a nice finish after walking out from behind the CK net.  CK got back on the scoring sheet at the 9:11 mark of the third with Caleb Boates (Meister, White) shooting from the point, which found the back of the net, making it 6-2 Park View.  Park View scored again at the 6:45 mark with a beautiful feed cross ice to Westlake (MacIntosh, Turner) scoring again to put Parkview up by five.  CK rounded out the scoring at the 5:47 mark with Brayden Williams tapping in a rebound off a shot from Wyatt Logie. The final shots on goal were Park View: 37, CK: 25.

PAR-EN-BAS 6 – NKEC 2

On a stormy Saturday night, the Northeast Kings Titans traveled to the Mariners Center to face off against the École Secondaire de Par-en-Bas Sharks. This was the second meeting between the two teams, with PEB having won the first game at the West Kings Tournament.

Each team started strong off the opening faceoff. The Sharks scored first with a wrist shot from Dominic Jacquard. The Titans took a penalty early in the first and Carson d’Eon scored a rebound goal on the powerplay to put the Sharks up by two.

A Colin Duncan team never quits, and the Titans came out strong in the third. Zack Angerman and Nick Kaizer scored 30 seconds apart to make it 5-2 early in the 3rd. The teams kept exchanging scoring chances for the remainder of the game. Dominic Jacquard scored on the powerplay to put the Sharks up 6-2, which was the final.

Scoring for the Panthers were Cohen Westlake assisted by Brennan Coleman; Mitch MacIntosh assisted by Brennan Coleman and Cohen Westlake; Dylan Demone assisted by Fischer Genge and Carlos White; Brennan Coleman assisted Mitch MacIntosh and Cohen Westlake; Nate Inness assisted by Carlos White and Landen Morash.
