AVON VIEW 7 – NKEC 1
On Friday evening in Canning the NKEC Titans hosted the Avon View Avalanche in their annual Pink in the Rink game. It is a very meaningful event that not only brings awareness to such a devastating disease, but it also allows for people and communities to come together for one evening with the parallel purpose.
The Titans knew they were going to be in tough last night, as Avon View is a very well coached team with a great hockey tradition. Avon View opened the scoring two minutes into the game with an awesome shot to the short side, top corner by # 12 Jaiden Wells. The Titans were able to hang in tough for most of the period before the Avalanche scored their second of the game with just over a minute left in the period by # 15 Owen Chaisson. The Avalanche weren't done there as with less than 1 second left in the period they potted the third of the game by # 9 Wilson Davison.
The Titans came out for the second period with a great attitude and a never give-up belief and played the Avalanche well, but were still unable to beat the Avon View netminder who made key saves when needed. The Avalanche were able to score one goal in the second period and took a 4-0 lead going into the third.
The Avalanche 4th goal was scored by # 20 Evan Baxter. The third period saw much of the same with the Avalanche controlling much of the play. The away team scored three more goals in the last period to finish the game by a score of 7 - 1.
The Avalanche goals were scored by # 9 Wilson Davison, a nice wrap around by # 21 Noah Macumber and their last goal was another wrap around by # 8 Ryan Cooke. The Titans were able to pot one behind the Avon View goalie and this goal was scored by #19 Nik Kaizer. The Titans would like to thank the Avalanche and the Titan community for supporting the team and this worthy cause.
