HORTON 7 – NKEC 2

A Saturday night tilt between valley rivals of Horton and NKEC took place at the Kenville rink with a good crowd in attendance.

The game got off to a quick start for NKEC with a quick goal by Nik Kaizer at 17:40 of the 1st period. Horton evened the score at 12:32 with a goal by Lauchlin Levy. A goal by Avery Buckle of the Horton defense was disallowed at 5:05 of the first period after Horton took an interference penalty in front of the Titans net minder, putting the Griffins on the penalty kill rather than celebrating a goal. The game continued with NKEC picking up 3 penalties in the first period with Horton capitalizing on one of those penalties by Aidan Fahie to end the first up 2-1.

The second period saw two goals by Horton with Garrett Gaulton and Avery Buckle giving the Griffins the lead by the end of the second, with the Titans just managing one goal by Johnny Petrie. The period ended with Horton leading 4-2 heading into the 3rd period.

The Horton Griffins continued to put pucks behind the Titans netminder David McCulley, who was making some phenomenal stops to try to give his team a chance to get themselves back in the game. The Griffins managed to pot another 2 goals by Garret Gaulton (for the hat-trick), and Cayden Anderson throughout the third. The Titans ended up in the sin bin three times in the third compared to one for the Griffins.

Overall, it was a good game with some good hockey played by both teams seeing the home crowed excited with another W for the Horton team.
